Gen2 is an upcoming Ryanland cable syndication television network, with original programming opportunities in the future. Gen2, is a sub-channel/sister of GenerationTV, which launched on April 6, 2011. It also a sister channel with RBC and RTN due to Ryan Broadcasting owning them and this network. It is owned by Ryan Broadcasting (which was explained before). In most regions, Gen2 is automatically broadcast in HD 1080i, but in some regions it will be broadcasted in SD until HD is introduced, or maybe because HD is not available in that region at all. Gen2 is on RDirecTV and Dish Networks also.
History[edit | edit source]
Creation, 2011[edit | edit source]
It has actually been a very quick creation for this network to exist. On April 6, 2011, it's parent network, GenerationTV (also owned by Ryan Broadcasting), premiered as a major network airing original programs, Mon-Fri and repeats on Saturday. On April 9, Ryan Broadcasting came up with an idea for a sister network airing repeats of other series and/or series from GenerationTV in later years, if the network still exists then. After this discussion, the team went out to try and gain rights to certain series that they had decided on, if not, they would try again for others. Gen2, by the beginning of May, managed to get the rights of Friends, Scrubs, General Hospital and Dawson's Creek. They will also air some RBC and RTN programming and can use the shows due to them already having the rights, for example, Desperate Housewives, The OC and Glee, also original programming from Ryanland. The network has it's schedule, it's programming and is ready to premiere on May 11, 2011.
Programming[edit | edit source]
Main article: List of programs broadcast by Gen2
Gen2 is originally a syndication network, so will mostly or completely broadcast repeats from other networks.
Original programming[edit | edit source]
Gen2 has not yet created it's own, yet ordered any of it's own series yet, however, has accquired rights to a US Soap entitled General Hospital, that has never been broadcasted in this country. To this date (not including General Hospital) only three international soaps are shown on network TV, US Soaps All My Children and One Life To Live are shown on cable network SC1, however they have been cancelled by their US network and will end showing sometime in 2012 and UK Soap, Doctors is shown on CTV primetime, and will move to daytime next season. Hopefully in the future the network hopes of some sort of original series.
Movies[edit | edit source]
Gen2, will add a special 'Gen 2 Movie' on various days of the week.
